Development and Education Conference (DevEd) 2025

Dates: 11-13 November 2025
Location: State Library Victoria, Melbourne, Australia

The inaugural Development and Education Conference (DevEd) 2025 brings together leaders, thinkers, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from across the Asia-Pacific region.

DevEd 2025 will showcase groundbreaking research and innovative practices, fostering regional collaboration while contributing to global education efforts.

An initiative of the Australian Council for Educational Research, DevEd 2025 is organised in partnership with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the UK Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The GPE KIX Europe, Middle East and North Africa, Asia and Pacific (EMAP) Hub will support and actively engage with the conference, including through a KIX EMAP-sponsored panel.

Conference Day 2: 12 November, 10:30 – 12:00

Equitable and inclusive learning

The role of knowledge, innovation and exchange in building equitable and inclusive education systems

  • Aditi Desai, KIX EMAP Hub
  • Nisa Felicia, Pusat Studi Pendidikan dan Kebijakan, Indonesia
  • Sangay Jamtsho, IDRC
  • Mohammad Ali Zinnah, Dhaka University
  • Arushi Terway, NORRAG
  • Dr Ethel Valenzuela

DevEd 2025 goes beyond traditional development dialogue.

This 3-day event invites bold thinking and practical collaboration to tackle one big question: How can education systems in the Asia-Pacific be transformed to deliver quality learning for all – now and in the future?

The conference will explore three urgent and interconnected sub-themes:

  • Systems transformation: Explore what it takes to build future-fit education systems. From policy shifts to classroom practice, we’ll dive into what works, what can be scaled, and what sustains long-term change.
  • Equity and inclusion: For millions, quality education remains out of reach. Learn how inclusive policies and program design can break down barriers – and why context matters in delivering meaningful learning outcomes.
  • Foundational learning: Literacy, numeracy and social-emotional skills remain essential – especially in crisis-affected and low-resource settings. This theme explores how we strengthen the foundations for lifelong learning amid disruption.

What sets DevEd 2025 apart?

  • A strong regional focus on the Asia-Pacific
  • Insightful, evidence-based dialogue
  • Spotlight on local innovation and cross-sector collaboration
  • Designed to connect researchers, policymakers and practitioners

Whether you’re influencing national education policy, implementing large-scale development programs, funding education initiatives, or working to strengthen systems at a regional level – DevEd 2025 is your opportunity to help shape a new vision for education in the region.
