Event Highlights: International Conference on Quality Teacher Education
On 26 and 27 May 2025, the KIX EMAP Hub partnered with the International Conference on Quality Teacher Education, organised by the National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education Islamabad and the Department of Secondary Teacher Education, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU). The conference included a KIX session that featured four presentations about KIX research and findings from KIX EMAP Learning Cycle 6 on ‘Increasing Women’s Representation in School Leadership‘.
Day 1 of the conference began with the inaugural ceremony, followed by two keynote speeches by Dr. Akiko Hanaya, Education Policy Advisor, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Firat, Educational Technology, Anadolu University, Turkiya. Following the keynote speeches, the conference held various parallel sessions covering key topics such as Accreditation of Teacher Education, Revamping the Teacher Education Curriculum, the Teacher Education Roadmap, Recruitment of Trained Teachers, Teachers’ Standards, and Teacher Licensing. In addition, participants engaged in two panel discussions focused on Teacher Licensing and Revamping the Teacher Education Curriculum.
Day 2 started with a keynote speech by Dr. Sajid Ali, Professor at Aga Khan University, Institute for Educational Development, and the KIX National Coordinator for Pakistan, on the topic of “Teacher Licensing.” His keynote was followed by a GPE KIX EMAP session featuring four presentations:
- KIX research: Delivering Responsive and Inclusive Initial Teacher Education Through Design Thinking, by Dr. Takbir Ali
- KIX research: School Leaders as Agents of Change Towards Equity and Inclusion, by Dr. Zahid Majeed
- KIX EMAP Learning Cycle 6: Creating Opportunities: Advancing Women Leadership in Sindh-Pakistan (Teachers’ Career Pathways), by Dr. Kiran Hashmi
- KIX EMAP Learning Cycle 6: Breaking Barriers and Empowering Change: Strengthening Women’s Leadership in School Systems (Teachers’ Career Pathways), by Dr. Zahida Batool
The presentations were followed by dynamic question and answer sessions with both in-person and online attendees. The conference concluded with a closing ceremony.
