Event Highlights: Launch of the Arabic Edition of NORRAG Special Issue 09 “Fundamental Learning: Reflections and Practices”
The Arabic Edition of NSI 09 “Fundamental Learning: Reflections and Practices” was launched online on Thursday 12th of June 2025. It included three articles written by authors located in Algeria and United Arab Emirates in addition to translations of 12 articles from the original English NSI 09.
Rasha Sharaf, regional editor of NSI Arabic edition first gave a brief introduction of the concept of fundamental learning, and how it differs from what is known in the Arab region as “basic education” then she gave an overview on the methodology of editing the Arabic edition then invited authors of the regional contributions to present their articles focusing on the unique context of the Arab region and how can foundational learning is affected by the governance of education system in different countries. In the UAE, it is dealt with as part of the continuing and lifelong learning, hence sometimes confused with adult literacy as said by Asmaa AlHufaiti and Kholoud AlMansoury. Whereas in Algeria Bachire Al Mahmoudy indicated that foundational learning is an integral part of basic education. Regional authors then opened the floor for discussions, and Q&A after each presentation. The event was attended by 35 participants from all over the Arab region, including educators, researchers, and academics.
An overview of the tenth issue of NSI10 and eleventh issue of NSI11 was presented inviting researchers and academics to contribute to the regional articles of the following Arabic issues.
The launch was concluded by Rasha Sharaf, who thanked the participants for the questions shared during the event. She also acknowledged the authors and editors for their work on this significant issue that is now available in the resource library in both English, Arabic and other languages.
تسليط الضوء على الحدث: إطلاق النسخة العربية من العدد التاسع الخاص لنشرة نوراج بعنوان “التعلّم التأسيسي: نقاشات وممارسات“
تم إطلاق النسخة العربية من العدد الخاص التاسع (NSI 09) بعنوان “التعلّم التأسيسي: نقاشات وممارسات” عبر الإنترنت يوم الخميس الموافق 12 يونيو 2025. وقد تضمنت ثلاثة مقالات كتبها مؤلفون من الإمارات العربية المتحدة والجمهورية الجزائرية الديمقراطية الشعبية، بالإضافة إلى ترجمات لـ 12 مقالاً من النسخة الإنجليزية الأصلية للعدد الخاص التاسع.
قدّمت رشا شرف، المحررة الإقليمية للنسخة العربية من العدد، مقدمة موجزة عن مفهوم التعلّم التأسيسي، وكيف يختلف عن ما يُعرف في المنطقة العربية بـ”التعليم الأساسي”، ثم استعرضت منهجية تحرير النسخة العربية قبل أن تدعو مؤلفي المساهمات الإقليمية لعرض مقالاتهم، مع التركيز على السياق الفريد للمنطقة العربية وكيف يمكن أن يتأثر التعلّم التأسيسي بحوكمة نظم التعليم في مختلف البلدان، ففي دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، يُنظر إليه كجزء من التعلم المستمر والتعليم مدى الحياة، مما يجعله أحياناً يُخلط مع محو الأمية للكبار وفق ما أفردت كلاُ من أسماء الحفيتي وخلود المنصوري. بينما أشار بشير المحمودي في الجزائر إلى أن التعلّم التأسيسي يُعد جزءاً لا يتجزأ من التعليم الاساسي. وقد تلا كل عرض، إتاحة المجال للنقاشات وجلسات الأسئلة والأجوبة. حضر الفعالية 35 مشاركاً من مختلف أنحاء المنطقة العربية، من بينهم التربويون والباحثون والأكاديميون.
كما تم تقديم لمحة عن العدد العاشر (NSI 10) والعدد الحادي عشر (NSI 11) من السلسلة، مع دعوة الباحثين والأكاديميين للمساهمة في المقالات الإقليمية للأعداد العربية القادمة.
اختتمت رشا شرف الفعالية بتوجيه الشكر للمشاركين على الأسئلة التي طرحوها خلال الحدث. كما أعربت عن تقديرها للمؤلفين والمحررين على عملهم في هذا العدد المهم، الذي أصبح متاحاً الآن في مكتبة الموارد باللغات الإنجليزية والعربية ولغات أخرى.
