The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) are pleased to invite you to the 6th Annual Global Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX) Symposium on December 9-10, online.

  • December 9 – Leveraging Evidence in Education Financing
  • December 10 – Turning Evidence into Action: Tools for Scaling and Financial Decision-Making

Overview

In 2025, the global education sector faces an urgent and deepening crisis in financing. Low- and lower-middle-income countries confront an annual education funding gap of US$97 billion, threatening progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4). In response, international and national stakeholders are increasingly focused on reimagining how education is financed, recognizing that evidence-informed international and domestic investment is more critical than ever.

The 6th Annual GPE KIX Symposium—will respond to this moment of challenge and opportunity. It will explore how governments and partners are using evidence, strategic investment, and innovative financing mechanisms to prioritize and scale impactful education innovations, even amid fiscal constraints.

Drawing on GPE KIX’s commitment and IDRC’s scaling science to mobilizing knowledge for action, the symposium will highlight practical tools, financing strategies, and policy decisions that have enabled the sustainable scaling of impactful, locally rooted innovations, especially in low-income and fragile settings.

At GPE KIX, we are the seekers, the builders, the changemakers. We are using evidence. We are scaling the solutions. Our innovations are homegrown, rooted in our realities, and driven by our ambition. The symposium will reflect this ethos, showcasing the system of support, connection, and collaboration that defines GPE KIX—from researchers and Regional Hubs to national policymakers and GPE country-level processes.

By the close of the symposium, participants will have

  • Strengthened understanding of how evidence can transform education financing decisions;
  • Shared concrete examples of successful evidence-informed investments;
  • Identified practical tools and processes to guide future financing and scaling decisions; and
  • Reinforced collaboration between policymakers, researchers, and partners across the GPE KIX network.

Make sure to join the conversation online about the event by using the hashtag #GPEKIX and tagging @IDRC_CRDI and @GPforEducation.
