Rapid Customised Country Support in Indonesia: Participants complete Learning Cycle training modules
The KIX EMAP Hub is conducting a Rapid Customised Country Support (RCCS) activity in Indonesia in response to a request from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE).
The Hub launched the RCCS in Indonesia in the form of a Learning Cycle on the use of data for education policies. Over the course of five training modules, the activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of approximately 40 selected national experts to utilise and analyse existing national and international datasets to inform and strengthen education policies in Indonesia.
The first two online modules introduced the Learning Cycle and focused on the policy research process and frameworks for policy, planning, and implementation. The third module addressed key education datasets and data sources. Participants gained insight into key international and national datasets, as well as relevant sources for education research and policy analysis. They also learned about data production and management processes, and limitations of data.
The fourth training module brought participants together in Bandung, Indonesia. Over two days and six sessions, participants learned methods for data analysis and effective writing strategies for policy audiences. In groups, they worked to refine their research proposals and apply their research methods within the Learning Cycle framework, in preparation for their work on thematic policy briefs.
The fifth and final module returned online for participants to learn methods of data visualisation and research communication for policy advocacy.
Participants will now move on to the second phase of the Learning Cycle. Over the next few months, they work in teams to complete policy briefs with mentoring from the expert facilitators.
